This is a basement flat in a four-story Victorian terraced house with entrance to the property at the side of the house.
The brief was to create a garden that would provide a number of outdoor areas for both entertainment and for enjoying the evening sun.
The garden has a very mature tree with a preservation order which was incorporated into the overall design by building a raised deck around the base of the tree with a decked tree seat.
The design included a new lawn, a raised bed and two large planting areas. Planting consisted of a range of structural plants and shrubs and then complimentary planting including a range of scented plants.
To provide extra privacy but without enclosing the garden or losing the sun, trellis surrounds the garden on the left boarder and at the rear of the garden. A variety of climbers and trailing plants, when mature will provide a camouflage of colour and interest.
