  • This is a basement flat in a four-story Victorian terraced house with entrance to the property at the side of the house.
  • The brief was to create a garden that would provide a number of outdoor areas for both entertainment and for enjoying the evening sun.
  • The garden has a very mature tree with a preservation order which was incorporated into the overall design by building a raised deck around the base of the tree with a decked tree seat.
  • The design included a new lawn, a raised bed and two large planting areas. Planting consisted of a range of structural plants and shrubs and then complimentary planting including a range of scented plants.
  • To provide extra privacy but without enclosing the garden or losing the sun, trellis surrounds the garden on the left boarder and at the rear of the garden. A variety of climbers and trailing plants, when mature will provide a camouflage of colour and interest.
