Outdoors in open ground or containers

April  - temperature   +12C/54F. 

How to Sow                          

2.5cm/1" deep, 10cm/4" apart -  in rows 30cm/12" apart or in groups/blocks.

After Germination                  

When the plants are large enough to handle, thin to 20cm/8" apart

Growing on -  in Pots             

Keep weed free and well watered

Growing on- in ground           

Thin to 30cm/12" apart. Keep weed free and well watered

Aftercare                               

Keep weed free and well watered. Remove any flower heads which may appear although this is unlikely.

Harvesting         

Swiss Chard - start harvesting a few leaves with their  stalks from each plant when they have  reached a suitable size (about 20cm/8")  Harvest outer leaves leaving central foliage to develop.

Leaf/Spinach beet - Start harvesting a few leaves from each plant when they have  grown to about 10cm/4". Harvest outer leaves leaving central foliage to develop.
